Several commercial vehicles were taken out of service Friday as the Chatham-Kent police traffic management unit and Ministry of Transportation conducted a joint forces operation in Wallaceburg.

The focus on commercial vehicles resulted in 21 vehicles being sent in for inspection with 11 of the vehicles being taken out of service, police said.

One set of licence plates were seized and a total of 26 charges were laid in the blitz, police said.

Police remind owners and drivers of commercial motor vehicles that these initiatives will continue throughout the community in an effort to keep all road users safe.
